My second dive with the 105 MM macro. And again i lost a lot of good moments due to the up and down movement from the lens. It realy has trouble with poor light situations. During the dive i asked my buddy to give some extra light with his torch and this helped tremendously in focussing. I will try once again next week and otherwise i switch back to the 60 MM for the dutch waters. Let's wait and see what will the 105 do in 'tropical' waters where there is naturally more light.

I have just bought the 105 MM Macro lens from Sigma and a new Flatport for the Ikelite housing. So, finally the wheather and the schedule let me to use it underwater. I must say it is a very nice above the water but below it has some troubles focussing in poor light positions. But anyhow i managed to get some good pictures after a auto curve correction in Photoshop.

This year we had very bad weather in the days before the championships so we decided to move to the north part of the Grevelingen. Our first dive was together with other participants in the match who choose the same location. The second dive we went back for the same spot after hearing that the south had realy poor visibility. This time, it was just the three of us...

On the 5th of September, divingschool The Aalscholvers from Tilburg together with Photofocus organised a underwaterphoto match. My budy and i tried our utmost best to get some great pictures, but visibility was not really helping us. The first dive was done in the Harbour of Den Osse and the second on Putti's Place. So The Grevelingen on one hand and The Oosterschelde in the afternoon. Unfortunately we were not very lucky in both cases. Here you find the results after we did some serious curve corrections on the pictures.

After one week out of the water and looking closely at the exif data of some of the better macroshots, i went out to try it again. This time we went to a place called

It's great to take your digital camera for diving, but as you can imagine, water and camera's don't go well together. So after drowning my first S2 in the Ikelite housing i am now very careful how to setup the camera and clean the o-rings.

We intend to take the camera for every dive, only when we go diving when it is low tide, it often very difficult to care all your gear and the housing / flashes. So special thanks for my buddies Jos and Bob who are often promoted to lugage carriers.
